Nancy Lopes, CLA, CAS began her legal career in 1989. Prior to joining Chain, Younger, Cohn & Stiles in 1994, she worked for various attorneys in Kern County.
In 1994, Nancy began working for the Family Law Department until such time as that department was reassigned to an associate. Nancy began working for the senior partner, Milton Younger, as a medical/legal secretary in 1996 and worked her way up to becoming one of his legal assistants in the area of personal injury practice.
In 1994, Nancy completed the Attorney Assistant Program through California State University, Bakersfield. This is a two-year program for formal paralegal training in all areas of law. In January 2000, Nancy obtained the national designation of Certified Legal Assistant (CLA). This designation requires intense studying months prior to the examinations, and further requires many hours of continuing education credit to maintain the designation.
Nancy has also been a volunteer for multiple terms on the Board of the Kern County Paralegal Association as the Newsletter/Historian Director spending a lot of time and effort putting together their monthly newsletter that benefit not only the Kern County Paralegal Association, but the entire legal community in the greater Bakersfield area. She is also a member of the California Alliance of Paralegal Associations and the National Association of Legal Assistants.
